With all these lessons and some instinctual motives, I've organized a tournament to take place in 2 days. My Mongolian friend, Burged, came up with the idea and now that drilling is finishing, we will have a day of "Shagaa" - a local sport of target shooting, flicking a piece of bone to knock another small bone off its table. The underground network has worked well and the entire Gobi has heard about it. Teams from across the desert will converge on Khanhangor, 20 km north of Dalanzadgad, battling for a cash prize of 45,000 Tugriks or $45.
I am very excited about it and look forward to sharing this day with the Mongolians -- I believe I will be the only expat there, travelling with a company interpreter of course.
I hope to blog more after it happens and will keep you up to date as quickly as possible!
Happy Thanksgiving!
